On a typical day, you'll be writing and reviewing copy for media materials (targeting regional, trade and potentially national media outlets) and social media channels, liaising with journalists to arrange interviews and briefings, monitoring the media for breaking news stories and coverage opportunities, carrying out media outreach, helping to support the team's thought leadership work, carrying out research, and helping keep track of the team's activities and successes.
My client is after someone with a passion for media relations and issues-based communications.
The ideal candidate is at equally at home writing tweets as they are comment pieces, loves diving through statistics and research to develop content and copy, enjoys picking up the phone to pitch to journalists, is a whizz with spreadsheets and statistics, and a top-level proof-reader.
High quality copywriting skills are a must for this role, as you'll spend the majority of your time writing and editing copy, but you'll also need excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt content and arguments for different audiences.
If you are self-motivated, efficient, and well-organised, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and on simultaneous projects, then this is the ideal opportunity for you.
