Job Title:                    Senior Controls Design Engineer

Inductotherm Heating & Welding Ltd sells induction heating equipment worldwide.  These induction heating systems are electronic, electrical and mechanical and often contain; an induction heating stage, 3ph distribution, motor drive components, a water quenching or cooling stage and an overall control system. 

 

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the design or development of control systems hardware and PLC/HMI software for both current and future equipment. Your responsibilities will include conceptual design, electrical CAD, technical documentation, BOM’s, design calculations and feasibility studies. 

 

Job Description

To develop or design automation and control systems for both current and future OEM equipment. Your responsibilities will include conceptual design, detail design, technical documentation, design calculations and feasibility studies.  You will be working as a lead controls engineer on projects in a progressive team of multi-disciplined engineers within the overall engineering department.  At times there will be some possibility of foreign travel. 

 

The Person

The job holder will be technically motivated with a broad engineering knowledge with a number of years’ experience in a manufacturing industry designing special purpose control systems for machines or capital equipment.  Good organization skills and able to communicate effectively with customers and senior management, both internal and external are required.

 

Skills and Experience

PLC programming experience of Siemens S7 &/or Allen Bradley is desirable.

Manufacturing industry Automation experience.

Knowledge of SCADA and HMI and motor drive programming would be an advantage.

HND or Degree level in control/electrical/electronic or related engineering subjects.

Use of Solidworks electrical CAD software or a similar circuit design package is desirable.

A good level of practical ability is desirable.

Knowledge of EN ISO 13849-1 and Sistema is desirable.

A general knowledge of mechanical engineering would be useful. eg. Pneumatics
