Electrical Engineer - Avionics

£130,000-£170,000 per annumProvidence


Our client, an aerospace company located in Providence, RI, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their team. The position involves aiding in the finalization of the design, analysis, fabrication, integration, and testing of avionics and electrical systems for the product. The ideal candidate should possess a solid grasp of hardware specifications and selection related to computing, networking, and power distribution.

The base salary for the role is in the region of $130k - $170k plus equity, as well as full medical, dental, vision and 401(k). Our client also offers an extremely generous relocation package and financial support for travel.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in leading technical design and construction projects.
  • Proficiency in low voltage power distribution and protective measures.
  • Adeptness in serial networks, particularly CAN, RS485/422, ARINC 429, and Ethernet.
  • Competence in documenting, assembling, and resolving issues with cables and cable harnesses.
  • A firm foundation in electrical engineering principles, encompassing fundamental circuit design, signal processing, power distribution, transmission line theory, EMI, and EMC, among others.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes such as managing requirements and developing FMEA.
  • The ability to create comprehensive specifications and requirements for suppliers involved in the production of avionics components and subsystems.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting data communication buses such as CAN, RS485, and Ethernet.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in the automotive, aviation, or defense sectors is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in energy storage systems, particularly Lithium-Polymer or Lithium-Ion batteries, including a deep understanding of cell chemistry, manufacturing, battery management solutions, and protection.
  • Competence in high-power electric propulsion systems and power electronics.
  • A solid grasp of fundamental concepts in mechanical and thermal engineering.
  • Proficiency in a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) package such as CATIA, NX, or Solidworks.
