Policy Manager (Energy Systems)

Overview

Murray McIntosh is delighted to have partnered once again with Energy UK, the leading UK energy trade association who are dedicated to driving positive change in the UK's energy sector as it transitions to Net Zero.

They are seeking a Policy Manager to join their busy energy systems team, where the post-holder will play a pivotal role in shaping energy systems policy and regulations. This includes working on projects focused around the Future Systems Operator and Connections Action Plan.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the transformation of the UK energy sector during a period of rapid change and decarbonisation, ensuring the grid and accompanying networks have a robust and streamlined future.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Co-ordination and Communication:
    • Coordinate activities across the energy sector, ensuring Energy UK members are informed about core developments in electricity network infrastructure.
    • Keep members up-to-date on relevant industry developments and changes.
  • Risk Management:
    • Proactively identify and manage risks for Energy UK members.
    • Contribute to the development of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Regulatory Engagement:
    • Assist in engaging with current and new regulatory reforms to facilitate the effective delivery of key market programs.
    • Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on the industry.
  • Representation:
    • Represent Energy UK by speaking at relevant meetings and conferences.
    • Contribute to the organization's visibility and influence in the energy policy landscape.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Assist in the preparation of update papers for the Energy UK Board, as well as other groups and sub-committees as required.
    • Provide regular reports on policy developments and their implications.
  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Support the Senior Policy Manager, Deputy Director of Energy Systems, Director of Policy, Chief Executive, and other team members in various capacities.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Relevant degree in energy policy, law, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in policy management, regulatory affairs, or a similar role within the energy sector.
    • Strong understanding of electricity network infrastructure and regulatory frameworks.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

    Energy UK operates a hybrid working environment, combining home working with time spent meeting as a team in the office 3 days a week.

    This is a full-time permanent position and applicants must be eligible to work permanently in UK. Unfortunately, sponsorship cannot be offered.
