A leading international energy and infrastructure business is seeking an experienced Head of Public Affairs to join on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis, supporting a period of significant activity and growth in the UK.

The organisation operates major energy assets and is actively engaged in the UK's energy transition. Public affairs is viewed as central to navigating a complex political and regulatory environment and enabling long‑term commercial success.

The role

This is a senior, hands‑on role with responsibility for leading UK public affairs activity during a critical period.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading political and regulatory engagement across Westminster, devolved administrations and key regulators
  • Monitoring and interpreting policy and legislative developments impacting energy markets, infrastructure and investment
  • Developing and advocating policy positions on issues such as renewables, grid, flexibility, markets and net zero
  • Managing and coordinating consultation responses and advocacy activity
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with ministers, MPs, civil servants, regulators and industry bodies
  • Providing clear briefings and advice to senior leadership on political risk and opportunity
  • Representing the organisation at industry forums, trade associations and external events
  • Working closely with internal teams across development, strategy, markets and communications to ensure alignment

We're looking for:

  • Significant experience in public affairs, government relations or regulatory policy, ideally within energy, infrastructure or another highly regulated sector
  • A strong understanding of UK political and regulatory processes, with an established network
  • Experience influencing complex policy issues in fast‑moving environments
  • The credibility to operate at senior level, both internally and externally
  • Excellent communication skills and sound political judgement
  • The ability to operate strategically while remaining delivery‑focused

This role is London‑based, available with an immediate start.
