Overview

We are supporting a leading organisation operating at the forefront of digital innovation as they look to appoint a Policy Director to shape and drive their work across technology, AI governance, data regulation and emerging digital markets. This is a key leadership opportunity for a senior policy professional who understands how regulation, innovation, and societal impact intersect.

The Role


The Policy Director will play a strategic role in defining the organisation's position on the most pressing issues in digital policy and regulation. You will:

  • Lead the development of policy strategy across AI governance, data protection, digital markets, online safety, competition, and future technologies.
  • Provide authoritative insight on regulatory developments and advise senior leadership on risks, opportunities, and long-term implications.
  • Build trusted relationships with government, regulators, industry, and civil society, representing the organisation in high?level discussions and consultation processes.
  • Oversee production of policy reports, consultation responses, and thought?leadership that influence the national debate.
  • Manage and develop a high?performing policy team, ensuring effective horizon?scanning, research, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across legal, communications, research, and public affairs to ensure alignment on regulatory strategy.

About You


We are keen to hear from experienced policy leaders who bring:

  • A strong track record in digital, tech, AI or data policy, whether within government, a regulator, industry, or a mission-driven organisation.
  • Excellent understanding of the regulatory landscape: AI governance, data protection, platform regulation, online harms, digital competition, and/or emerging tech.
  • Proven leadership experience - able to set strategy, develop people, and influence at executive and board level.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with an ability to operate confidently across political, regulatory, and technical environments.
  • Strong analytical ability, strategic judgement, and clear written communication.
