Quantity Surveyor - Water Infrastructure
Location: Bristol

We're working in partnership with a leading Tier 1 infrastructure contractor to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of several water infrastructure projects across the Bristol and South West region.

Operating within a long-term water framework, this role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes, supporting the delivery of sustainable water services for local communities.

You'll work as part of an established commercial team, providing key commercial support while working closely with delivery teams to help ensure projects are delivered successfully against cost, quality and programme targets.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will support two Senior Quantity Surveyors, assisting with contract management, cost control, subcontract management and commercial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with project managers, engineers and operational teams, you'll help ensure projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong client relationships and supporting high standards of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the commercial management of projects to achieve profitability and performance targets
  • Produce accurate and timely commercial reports, forecasts and cost updates
  • Assist project teams in achieving contract, cost, quality and programme objectives
  • Support the preparation and submission of main contract payment applications
  • Assist with subcontractor management, including procurement, variations, payments and final accounts
  • Identify, measure and price variations and change events
  • Accurately measure works to maximise value recovery
  • Maintain accurate commercial records within project management systems
  • Support project cost reporting, materials procurement and plant expenditure tracking
  • Assist with performance reporting and KPI data
  • Build effective working relationships with project delivery teams and operational managers
  • Ensure compliance with internal commercial processes and procedures
  • Contribute to the project team's health, safety and environmental responsibilities

About You

You will be a Quantity Surveyor with experience in civil engineering or infrastructure projects, looking to further develop your commercial career within a supportive project environment.

Essential

  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
  • Experience supporting subcontract procurement, variations and payments
  • Good commercial reporting and cost management skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage workload across multiple project activities
  • Strong organisational and time management skills

Desirable

  • Experience working within the water or utilities sector
  • Experience on framework contracts
  • Degree or working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction
