Job Title: Design Manager
Location: Hybrid working - Falmer, UK (possibility to work out of Chichester or Chatham)
Employment Type: Full-time - 40hrs

Overview:
Our client is looking for an experienced Design Manager to lead the design delivery of capital non-infrastructure projects within the water and wastewater sector. This role is responsible for coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams, ensuring high-quality design outputs, and serving as the primary technical point of contact for the client.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering design for assigned projects from definition to delivery.

  • Manage stakeholder engagement and act as the client's main design contact.

  • Oversee design assurance, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

  • Coordinate with consultants, suppliers, and construction teams to integrate design solutions.

  • Promote sustainable, innovative approaches to engineering challenges.

  • Develop project plans including scope, cost, schedule, risk, and resources.

  • Support the delivery of outcomes aligned with programme milestones.

  • Mentor and develop team members in a collaborative and inclusive environment.

Requirements:

  • Chartered Engineer with a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Strong technical background in water/wastewater treatment design and delivery.

  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts.

  • Familiarity with CDM regulations and quality management in design.

  • Valid UK driving license.
