Quantity Surveyor

£45,000-£55,000 per annumWalsall

Overview

Currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor for a client that will provide commercial support to project teams, maintaining accurate commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and organizational objectives. They will liaise with client representatives and other stakeholders on commercial matters, including the agreement of variations, claims, and any additional payments.

Projects vary significantly in value, complexity, and duration from established frameworks to bespoke projects and emergency works with budgets ranging from approximately £200k to £10m+. This role is essential in driving efficiency's within the project scope, enhancing cost efficiency, and delivering high standards of commercial analysis. The Quantity Surveyor will demonstrate strong commercial acumen daily by identifying, recording, tracking, and realising commercial opportunities while mitigating business risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure robust, accurate, and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit levels.
  • Maintain accurate cash flow forecasting and reporting.
  • Manage cost control processes, including forecasting.
  • Update monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR), as well as cost and commercial plans.
  • Ensure main contracts have appropriate terms and conditions with commercial risks identified.
  • Engage the supply chain with suitable contract terms and conditions.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Manage subcontract letting, negotiation, and financial accounting.
  • Prepare applications for payment.
  • Liaise with clients, client representatives, and other third parties on commercial matters, including agreement of variations, claims, and additional payments.
  • Facilitate effective communication and cooperation between the commercial team and operational site teams.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous experience within the construction and/ or water industry.
  • HND, degree, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying.
  • Familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract and knowledge of Construction Law.
  • Proven commercial management experience, including procurement of subcontractors, chairing meetings, measurement and control cycles, certificates, and accruals calculations.
  • Strong understanding of monthly reporting processes and earned value analysis.
  • Experience in estimation and cost analysis.
  • Excellent communication, numeric, and computer literacy skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, capable of working to tight deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards
  • CSCS card
