Senior Campaigns Manager

£40,000-£50,000 per annumLondon

Overview

Murray McIntosh are seeking an experienced Senior Campaigns Manager for one of their clients to develop and deliver influential campaigns across a varied portfolio of political, policy and public-interest issues.

The Senior Campaigns Manager will play a central role in shaping how key policy and political issues are communicated, championed and progressed. You will lead campaign activity across a varied portfolio, identifying where there are opportunities to build support, strengthen engagement and achieve tangible outcomes.

The role calls for someone who is equally comfortable setting the direction of a campaign and delivering the detail, from developing messaging and stakeholder approaches to producing compelling content and responding quickly to new developments.

The Role

You will oversee a varied programme of political campaigning activity, with a particular focus on environmental and wider public policy issues. The portfolio will evolve in response to the political landscape, so the ability to spot opportunities and adapt priorities quickly will be important.

Working with colleagues and external partners around the country, you will help determine where campaigning activity can have the greatest impact and then take responsibility for making it happen.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading campaigns from early development through to delivery and evaluation.
  • Developing messaging and content that makes complex policy issues accessible and persuasive.
  • Building networks and maintaining relationships with relevant organisations, policymakers and other influential stakeholders.
  • Preparing speeches, briefings, correspondence and other high-quality written material.
  • Identifying opportunities to generate greater awareness, engagement and support around key issues.
  • Bringing together different strands of campaign activity and keeping delivery on track.
  • Helping to coordinate the work and priorities of a small team.
  • Keeping abreast of the political and policy landscape, recognising developments that may require a campaign response.

About You

You will be an experienced public affairs or campaigning professional who is comfortable operating in a politically informed, fast-moving environment. You will know how to take an issue, understand the wider context around it and determine the most effective way to build engagement and support.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • A strong track record in campaigning, advocacy or public affairs, with experience taking activity from concept through to delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce persuasive, audience-appropriate written content.
  • Good political instincts, including an understanding of how and when to engage different audiences and stakeholders.
  • A proactive and self-sufficient approach, with the confidence to progress work and make informed decisions.
  • The ability to manage a varied workload, maintaining momentum across both planned activity and emerging priorities.
  • Experience building productive external relationships across relevant organisations, networks and stakeholder groups.
  • The ability to get to grips with detailed subject matter quickly, drawing out the information and arguments that will resonate with different audiences.

Relevant Experience

We would particularly welcome candidates with experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

  • Environmental and climate policy, nature and conservation, rural affairs or animal welfare.
  • Parliamentary, political or wider public policy settings.
  • Charities, NGOs, membership or representative organisations.
  • Campaigning, advocacy or public affairs.
  • Media engagement and communications supporting campaigns.

Additional Information

  • Hybrid working in London, with regular office-based working required.
  • Some UK travel may be required.
  • Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Applicants should submit a CV and covering letter as part of their application.
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.

Murray McIntosh is proud to be an equal opportunities employer on behalf of their clients. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, or age.
